More and more visitors to St Andrews are coming from Europe. With flight time as little as under two hours from many European destinations, there has never been a better time for Continental visitors to visit the Home of Golf.
An increase in the number of direct flights to Scottish airports and ever more competitive air fares further add to the appeal. Direct flights to Scotland are available from the following countries: Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Malta, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and The Netherlands.
Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh is the most popular choice of airport for visitors to St Andrews and it is located to the south of Fife across the Firth of Forth. It is approximately 50 miles from the town, which is roughly an hour's car or train journey. To travel by train, you will need to take a short taxi or bus ride (approx. 10 minutes) into Edinburgh city centre.
You can then take a direct train to Leuchars, which is the local station for St Andrews, located approximately 5 miles from the town and roughly 10 minutes travel by road. Car hire is available from the major firms at all airports and city centres.

Glasgow Airport
Located near the West Coast, Scotland's largest airport is around 80 miles from St Andrews and roughly two hours travelling time, by road. You can also connect to St Andrews via rail from Glasgow's Queen Street Station in the city centre, although this will involve a change of train at Edinburgh.

Glasgow Prestwick Airport
Prestwick is Scotland’s fastest growing airport and now has direct connections with many international destinations. Located around 30 miles from Glasgow City Centre, there is no road traffic congestion around the airport which is just over 2 1/2 hours drive from St Andrews. There is also a rail link into Glasgow City Centre which runs every half hour.

Aberdeen Airport
Located to the north of St Andrews, Aberdeen Airport is approximately the same distance as Glasgow is - 80 miles and approx 2 miles travelling time by road. You can travel south easily by road down the A90, or by train direct to Leuchars, which takes about an hour and 20 minutes.

Dundee Airport
Dundee is a small airport with limited flight availability, but it does offer daily flights from London City Airport.
Dundee is also the closest airport to St Andrews, so offers a quick transfer time of less than half an hour by car. You can also take the train direct from Dundee to Leuchars.
